Awesome book - Author and National Geographic did not disappoint! My 11 year old son and I needed a book for summer reading project. This book is incredible. Beautiful, quality glossy pages, each packed with incredible pictures and facts, made easy to understand, not overwhelming. We are weather watchers anyway so this book was just a great addition to our collection! Very well done. Love how the sections and chapters are divided into the different types of storms. Love that it included blizzards as we are especially into snow.

I purchased this book for my 6 year old, he loves nature and science books.I gave this 1 star because it didn't meet any of my expectations.1st, most of yhe pictures are displayed in a way that is very busy and distracting. I was hoping for loads of pictures SHOWCASING extreme weather. Instead there are some pics of weather and lots of survival diagrams or mundane photos of people or places.2nd, it talks a whole lot about natural disaster survival basics and not a whole lot about the weather phenomenons them selves.3rd, English and punctuation is not my strong suit, in fact, it is the acadimic subject I struggle with the most, however, the writing and punctiation in this book is so poor that it makes the book hard to follow and not particularly exciting for my 6 year old.

I bought this for my 8 year old son and he loves it. Every page is full of pictures and the text is easy enough for a 2nd grader to read on their own. Great purchase for any kid who loves weather!

Bought this and the "pet tornado" for my weather-obsessed little brother (12 years old) for Christmas. It was a hit!

I aslo appreciate the expertise of the author (a scholar of Korean history and culture) and the numberous illustrations, maps, statistics on North and South Korea, a brief chronology and a weighty bibliography for further reading.However, this book feels incomplete and the text is almost too elementary or simplistic. There are many more books now available that are much more detailed than this one. 'A New History of Korea' by Ki-baik Lee or 'A History of Korea' by Jinwung Kim are probably the best books on Korean history and both are much more comprehensive than this book. So what I mean is that this book feels unnecessay and if you have read any of the books mentioned above then you really don't need this one. This was a impulse buy on my part so that's why I possess it, have fully read it and why I'm leaving a review.I would recommend this book more to casual readers or for those who simply want a introductory look into Korean history. It's written in a clear way and has many illustrations that illuminate the text. It's more than enough to satisfy your curiosity but for those who want or need a more in depth account of Korean history, I recommend skipping this as it won't get you very far.

I understand the usefulness of a literary foil, to make theory more personalized for people who hate to read theory. But for anyone who appreciates an author who gets to the point, reading this book is torture. For every useful line, there are pages of made-for-Cinemax dialogue that reads like an uninteresting 50 Shades of Gray. This is especially frustrating for an author who has so much useful insight to share.

I took over the family mail order business in 1978 and sold it in 2004. I had to learn by trial and error over those 26 years how to stop trying to do everything myself, and learn to hire good people, create procedures, and then delegate tasks. If I'd read this little book way back when it was originally written, I could have played a a lot more golf!It's an excellent motivator and guide for anyone who is thinking of starting their own business, or is in business and finds themselves working way too many hours a day.
