This was going to be a gift but I liked it so much that I'm keeping it. It's all the background for the show and it's written in the same light, happy tone that the show has. Good quality materials, fun illustrations, and easy reading!
This is a fun read that gives an inside look at the Great British Baking Show. It's filled with light, funny stories like the time Mary Berry wrote her name on Paul's car, not realizing she was using a permanent marker. You'll learn what happened to some of the bakers after the show was over. It's light, no really negative gossip. However, be forewarned, there are spoilers for anybody who has not seen all the seasons.
I got this for my friends 65th birthday present, she and I talk about the show all the time. She was so excited to receive it and I just recently received a thank you note from her expressing the fun she was having reading it. I do have to admit I did take a peak before delivering it to her. The stories are great and I love the history of the show. A great read for anyone that is a fan of the show.
This gives the background of the show, the judges, and hosts, with summaries of the seasons and locations. There's a lot about the bakers -- how they're chosen, what it's like during the competition, and where many of them are now. Interestingly woven with the social media storm, and how that affected the show and the bakers. This is a fast read, and very interesting.
I was hoping for a look back at a show I love, with behind-the-scenes tidbits and glossy photos. Instead, I got a disjointed mess. That read like an audio book set on “shuffleâ€. In place of photos there were blurry watercolors, without names attached, plunked down at random spots. The same pictures are used over and over and are have no connection to the accompanying text.
A delightful read for fans of the show.
