I give this 4.5 stars, which rounds up to 5.To be honest, I'm not quite sure I liked this as much as his first book, Dirty Pretty Things. I think it was because it didn't have as much erotic poems. That being said I still enjoyed it a lot. This collection was like falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland and it was a beautiful experience. I can't really put into words how I feel about this book

Mr. Faudet has managed once again to leave me enthralled with his words and the soul from which they emerge. Bitter Sweet Love is a fantastic balance of poignant poetry and sexy flash/short stories.A fan from the first...a fan for life. 😊

Some of the poems to me were kind of boring and were just like any other poems I've read. But most of the other poems were beautiful, I enjoyed reading Bitter Sweet Love and look forward to reading more by him!

This audiobook is partially new "episodes" of sessions with great comedians. The latter portion are live sets with even more awesome guests! Jenny Slate and Paul F Tompkins are big highlights in this. If you enjoyed the TV show, this is a great addition. It's considered the "2nd season" of the reboot. Currently the 1st season is no longer available on audible. Those episodes were about 15 minutes long and were individual episodes which were released weekly. This 2nd season is one continuous listen filled with hilarity. Jonathan Katz and H. Jon Benjamin have aged a bit and their quick wit has slowed down a little, but Katz is still charming as ever. I'm thankful for this show, as well as the TV show, which I still pop in my headphones and listen to (because let's face it, the animation wasn't doing much for the show). I'm very much looking forward to a 3rd season. So please give this a listen so Jonathan Katz can continue to portray this character.

Many Christians struggle with assurance in many ways. Some struggle with it because they do not feel saved. Others because they have a sin that they keep repeating after asking God for forgiveness and repenting from it. Still they are some that struggle with it after a sermon they heard from their pastor which promoted legalism rather than grace. Can a Christian know they are saved? How can we have assurance we are saved? This is what Greg Gilbert covers in his latest book, Assured. In this book, he gives our four sources of assurance based on the Word of God: The gospel of Jesus Christ. The promises of God. The witness of the Spirit. The fruit of obedience. The gospel is the message that God has saved sinners from their sin and has given them eternal life. In His Word, God has promised that the ones who are His will never be forgotten or let go despite out sins. The witness of the Spirit is God's Spirit testifying with our spirit that we are His children as taught in Romans 8. The fruit of obedience is our outward expression of our love for God as we seek to do what pleases Him. Jesus said the one who loves Him, is the one who obeys Him (John 14:21). At the end of book, Gilbert addresses besetting sins. Those are the sins that we seem to not get rid of no matter how mature we are in the faith. Gilbert tells his readers while it is discouraging that these sins are still within us, we must not lose heart. This is not an indication that we have lost our salvation. Jesus promised that no one, not even ourselves, can snatch us from the Father's hand. Finally, Christians should always strive for assurance. The way to do that is to be constantly reminded of the promises of God in the gospel. We must also do the things that please God and not walk in this journey alone, which means Christians are to be faithful church members. Get together with a family believers that will walk with you and you walk with them in our journey to be more like Jesus. Greg Gilbert has been one of my favorite writers for some time. I have enjoyed every book he has written and Assured is no exception. The book is short and easy to read that will be a great tool to go through a fellow believer who is struggling with assurance of their salvation. This is will also be good for you if you are struggling with assurance as well.

How do I know that I am saved? Should I question or even doubt my salvation? What do I do with my own fears about my salvation? Questions like these and others are what Greg Gilbert answers in a helpful and winsome way in his latest book, Assured.What I enjoyed most about this work is Gilbert’s constant, clear focus on the gospel of the Lord Jesus. Unlike many authors who drive people only to check for good works to find salvation, Gilbert urges readers to focus strongly on the gospel first. The first question that a doubting person should ask is whether or not they believe the truth of the gospel. Do you believe in Christ? Do you know of your own sin? Do you believe that Jesus died to pay for your sin and rose again? Do you desire to surrender your life to Jesus in faith? Such questions are more important than other measures that often leave us doubting.Gilbert is not at all promoting an easy believism in this work. On the contrary, he is quite clear that genuinely saved people will have lives that show that genuine faith. The point that Gilbert is strongly making, however, is that our focus should be far more on Christ than on self as we seek to be able to rest in God’s grace.In this work, Gilbert will deal with the issue of assurance from a variety of angles. Gospel is first and foremost, but the author does not ignore the witness of the Spirit, good works, or the promises of God. He also addresses several mistakes that people often make that make assurance more difficult. I chose to give this book four stars because it was a good way to pay tribute to Dr. King. My students were intrigued by the illustrations. The story was written in a straight forward engaging way that students could engage in.

A very good book for readers of the age 4 and above.

Our children loved this book and learning about Martin Luther King Jr. We would recommend it to everyone. The book was in great condition.

"Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King" fills a need for effective picture books for young readers about this important American leader. The scratchboard illustrations, although unusual for this format, create a vibrancy that enhances the text.This narrative revolves around the statement: "The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., is famous because he helped our country change some of its laws." Then in simple language it goes on to explain some of the laws he helped change.It goes on to say, "Poor people, rich people, white people, black people, and people from all around the world listened when Martin Luther King spoke." Of course, there is mention of his 1963 speech in Washington, D.C., where his "dream was that people everywhere would learn to live together without being mean to one another."This is an excellent book to read aloud to younger students, although as a school librarian, I have seen it used effectively up to the 5th grade (like another reviewer here). Another good title that covers some of the same territory for young readers is "A Picture Book of Martin Luther King, Jr.," by David A. Adler.

I read this book to my kindergarten students each year a round MLK Day. It is a perfect book for around 5-7 year olds. It teaches kids the basics of who he was and what he did, in language children can easily understand. It's just the right length for a read aloud. I have found it to capture my students' attention (no easy task some days!) and encourage discussion.

I am a teacher and I needed information books about individuals that made an impact in our world, and of course, Martin Luther King was an important figure in our country. I placed this book in my Library Center.

When this book arrived I could hardly tell it was used. I was happy to see Icould get a hardcover copy as this is an excellent book to introduce the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Especially appropriate for younger aged children. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in introducing this hero to children.

I appreciate an attempt by a Western author to compress TCM herbology into a small book. And I appreciate his fascination and sincere desire to have this published. I do not think he lacks understanding or love of the subject.But then what's the point of this book? It's clearly sold as a herbalist source, but the presentation on individual herbs is truly lacking, distilled to bare basics which strips down the complexity and intricacies of Chinese medicine. I'm speculating that perhaps Michael is affected by a reductionist Western paradigm. That's fine but this is a great disservice to the great Chinese tradition.If you are interested in TCM, instead of this book, try a proper reference such as for example Chinese Medical Herbology & Pharmacology. You will immediately see that Michael only scratches less than 5% of the surface. And hence the value of this book also hardly exceeds that level.Do your research. Do not just buy it because this book is (relatively) cheap. This is a wrong motivation.

this is the best book on herbs and the way the chinese use them. the author michael tierra was one of the 1st americans to go to china to learn accupunture and how to use herbs to fix people of their alements. i was skeptical at first reading this book. but the(TCM-- traditional chinese medicine, ( in china people who perform TCM are considered doctors ) that me and my wife are seeing is a god send. he has subdued her extreme pain of fibermyalga with accupunture and herbs. in the west, if they can't fix it with a pill or surgery they want nothing to do with you, YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT they just mask the problem, they don't get to the why it is happening. but in TCM everything can be made right. for TCM goes to why the problem started or what is causing the problem. they get to the ROOT of the problem this book explains TCM and gives a list of all the herbs that is used, ( over 400 ). if you have ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOU AND I MEAN ANYTHING----GET THIS BOOK AND IT WILL OPEN YOUR YOU EYES UP TO TCM.

I purchased this to be a gift for a friend. I already have my own copy. What I like most is that the author explains the Chinese idealogy behind the herbs and provides a list of Chinese herbal formulas that are available in the market place and their benefits. He also explains under what conditions certain herbs shouldn't be used. It an excellent reference book.

Great teacher, great book that I enjoy having as a trusted source to look up Chinese herbs

Very well wriiten, informative and appear to me quite complete. I am satisfied with the information shared in this book. I have learned a lot about acupunture and chinese medicine and old sacred wisdom.

This book is great for recommending healing herbs. The only downside is that I'm not sure where to buy some of the items. Great book though.

Being a Herbalist myself I really do love "The Way of Chinese Herbs" along with other books I keep them as references to help me help my clinets overcome challenges. The author has very useful information and his own insites that are very important to me. It is one thing to know the herbs themselves but knowing from personal experience how to use them means a lot more to me and Michael Tierra does a great job!Paul Haider
