I enjoyed the character development for the most part, as well as the over-arching theme that humans can always become better people if they are just open to doing so. I also enjoyed the non-human characters in the story, who couldn't love the hopeless romantic mushy-hearted balrog-like baels? Who, after all, take "stopping to smell the roses" to literal extremes. The world-building was pretty good, it was immersive and descriptive without being overly-descriptive on one hand or matter-of-fact about things on the other. There is magic, of sorts, but it is never painfully explained in full detail, making it a plain reality of the world instead of an overdone attempt to explain the unbelievable. I lost a little immersion at the super-saiyan ascension ending but otherwise the journey was still a good one. I am left wondering whether the mistress was ever real or not, though.
Wow ! ! ! I have never read anything so like God and Satan. The Castes and OutCastes seem to look to guidance from a deity and Lienna seems so like the devil, she just wants to destroy everything. I am a grandmother and my youngest grandson, 12 years old, loves fantasy and dragons as much as I do. He reads on a 10th grade level and reads about 1 book a week. I hope that he will always enjoy reading as much as I do. Thank you so much for a fantastic book.
The avoidance of swear words was really annoying. There were some leaps in character/storyline logic, a bit of deus ex machina, and paper thin, shallow characters.BUTNone of the annoyances were evident or problematic enough until I got hooked by the story. So I finished the series and it was OK enough.
really enjoyed this series...a bit of a change from the normal sword and slash ...interesting magic systems as well.
I picked up the first book of The Castes and the OutCastes on Kindle unlimited on something of a whim and have since bought a copy of all three books. I've read through them more than once and find myself eagerly anticipating Davis Ashura's next series. Wonderful worldbuilding, interesting characters and a compelling storyline. This series was a pleasure to read
Very good fantasy yarn set in different society. Interesting magic, non humans and great Villain. Ending made sense and brought a lot of threads together. If you like this genre at all, you will enjoy this series.
A very detailed book with an amazing world histiry. Heroes and heroines larger than life, I'm sorry I finished the book because I could read more and more.
An outstanding read once you get past the caste system.
