This is the 3rd book in the series. It's not your normal hack and slash and the event's that the MC gets himself into are very human based and not what is just optimal for the best outcome. It's a little more gory than the other 2 but it is still very well written. For the most part the scenario's that Gunnar Long gets roped into doesn't get dragged out and the flow from one event to the next is pretty quick.There are some decisions that the MC chooses to do that I personally wouldn't have done but it still works out in the end.Overall it's a fun read and the transition from book 2 to 3 is seamless from what i could tell.
4.5 stars is a more accurate score. Another fine addition. Main character still bugs me at times with his carelessness and self-righteousness. Again the book is very fast paced. The events of a week are covered in a chapter but the main plot over in a day or two. It is a recurring element to this series. I kind of wish the story had more room to breathe. Eden's Gate contains a rich world and I enjoy learning more about it. That is why I wish that the author will create an anthology novel about different characters and places in Eden's Gate.
Having stepped away from Gunnar and his friends for a while, I was somewhat dreading getting back into the world of Eden's Gate. Not because the writing is bad, but because I was worried I would be lost. I hate that feeling, when you've walked away from a book or a series for a bit only to find that you have to start over completely. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I popped into the story and everything came back. Gunnar has an incredible story to tell about the Endless Sands and his experience with a terrible person. The story pacing is excellent and the progress of the side story with Crylight is perfect. I'm very pleased with the book as a whole, and I look forward to reading book 4 in the near future.
This was my favorite of the series so far. I liked the dark turn, and the MC having to really struggle with what's going on. How far will you go to get what you want. And what will those choices do to you. I also really like how the NPC's are waking up to the danger of the reborns.That being said, I agree that the move to the sands felt very forced. Also, couldn't the MC just recall to the home stone. I though that was the point of the spell...
This book was darker than the first couple. That said, it was quite enjoyable and open up new plots. Our MC is a bit behind level wise but is broadening his skill base and should become formidable. Hope the next books have him grind up some more levels as to become an impediment to the darker factions. There will have to be some answer from the good doctor as the reborn will take over by attrition alone if not checked. We shall see...... On to the next book¡
I like it so far.my biggest problem is how stupid gunner is.he constantly makes moronic mistakes and some how muddles through every fuckup.he never has a plan for anything and falls for stupid ploys.its really irritating from a guy who's supposed to be a gamer.
Just wow 3 books 6 days this story is incredible it just keeps pulling you so far into the story I can't quit I've lost sleep it's so great. I can't wait to start the next book and to read every one Edward comes out with. Can't praise this series enough. Every book is better than I assume it is going to be thank you for making an amazing world Edward. I speak on behalf of all of those who have read your books when I say they are amazing and keep up the great work for many, many books to come!
This book is a nice reminder of how painful Eden's Gate can be and how it's not just a game but a new life. After the Aaron was found a cage you knew that this would be a possibility and a horrific one at that. However, the struggle Gunnar went through to avoid such a fate was beautiful willing to take a drug he knew had horrible side effects just to avoid such a fate. Battling with Sora for dear life, and still ending up imprisoned. Only to find himself in a even worse situation where he would have to leave his morals behind in order to survive. Forcing the pure heroic Gunnar to become a villain for a time and really creating a realistic "virtual" world that anyone could relate to.
