These recipes are the closest I've ever come to the Indian food I know back in the UK. Yes, there are recipes within recipes but once you get a batch of the base sauce made it freezes well so does the garlic/ginger paste. The spice mixes come together quickly and store well. Sometimes I'll sous vide the meat with the spices, under cook it slightly and drop in the hot sauce to finish off. An Indian meal used to be a treat because of the time it took to bring all the dishes together now it's a breeze. All the recipes I have tried are spot on - brilliant job Dan.

I lived in central London during the ages of 25-35.In those 10 years I drank an insane amount, consumed a lot of drugs & did a lot of questionable things.One constant however was the quality of the London curry houses whether that be brick Lane or St Katharine dock or west end. There was a point in every beer fueled day that a curry house was visited.Then I moved to America.Indian restaurant here aren't bad. They're just different.That drove me to start to learn to cook Indian. Nothing however tasted like London Indian. I got a lot of compliments but it just wasn't the same.Then I bought this book.4 mouth orgasms later I can safely say just buy this book.It really is restaurant level food in your kitchen.I'd be happy to cook for any cute single women reading this

I was shooting for the authentic taste of a British curry and I found it. I live in Seattle, Washington and have not tasted a great curry for a while (the better restaurants are just too far or too pricey) - my first Korma was sooooo satisfying. I did buy samosas and Naan from a Pabla Cuisine and stocked up on a lot of key spices, but the rest was following the book.It's not truly for the casual/beginner I think as there are a lot of parts but once you have your spice mixes and a base made it's amazing! Superb book - thank you.

The best Indian cookbook I have. I have over 25 other Indian cookbook, and this is by far the best one I've found. I've made the butter chicken, chickpea curry and a couple of others and they were great.Also, the masala mixes (powdered) are worth it for the book alone. A great resource.

Authentic, delicious, easy!

everything looks amazing. I would eat anything/everything in here. However I haven't made one single thing yet because of one thing this book does that I must say drives me crazy to no end.... as I start reading each recipe ingredient list it calls for other recipes in the book- like 3 or 4 a recipe even- this means I would have to go through the book and make 3 other recipes before even starting the one I wanted to begin with. this coupled with ingredients I don't know about like mustard oil the author says isn't approved by the FDA in the UK or USA - (you can buy it as a hair tonic on amazon??) These things make me disgruntled- ill still make the easy ones but I'm not spending a week making one meal.

Skip this one. Although a quick read and provides lots of real world flavor it fails in its most important claim. According to the books blurb you will [after reading the book] "posses the essential tools to effectively find, analyze risk, and compete with the large players". The book recommends using the software that the author developed. Here is the problem ... The software costs $500 (or $400 if use use the code in the book).So you buy a book and the book says the real information is in the expensive software.The author's new strategy for creating wealth is to sell software.

There's no information on day to day operations of self-storage. Seems like a very important part of a book on self storage is how to deal with delinquent renters. NO MENTION OF THAT AT ALL.Someone else said it's really a paid (by the buyer of the book) advertisement for his software.There are a few numbers in the book but really it's a very incomplete book.

Mark Helm breaks it down for us: how to succeed in the self storage business, and how to expand in the self storage business. He shows us the common pitfalls that people overlook when buying a facility, and how to go forward when you do not have any cash for a down payment. Very informative, and in my opinion, a must read for those already in the business, or looking to get into the self storage business. If I learned just one thing from it, It was money well spent. I've always been shy on increasing rent; not so much now. Increasing rent is the best way to create wealth over the long run.

I really like this author’s perspective on the self storage business. He is transparent with the challenges and “tells it like it is”. I also like his grit and lessons on entrepreneurship, which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended.

Eye opening and I’m not sure everyone’s experience of survival mirrors his. I think it is one perspective and obviously valid and valuable. Not all prisoners survive by denying memories but also by remembering love as a beacon to which to return

I won't give a synopsis of the book b/c everyone else has already done that for you. What I can say about this book is that it is an impetus. After you read it, you'll most likely be hungry for more information about this brutal time in a seemingly well-developed country. Questions to consider: Why the silence of the press, with the exception of Timerman's newspaper 'La Opinion' and the 'B.A. Herald?' How could someone treated so horribly come out of it okay? Why did this happen after Pinochet's regime and the Nazi regime? This is post WWII, so why? Where was the rest of the world? The book is splendid, the first chapter gut-wrenching and beautiful. You will love it as much as Elie Wiesel's 'Night.'

I read this in college and returned to it ten years later. I found his descriptions of the totalitarianism essential for anyone interested in history and politics. I would suggest that anyone taking on the task of reading this book look into the history of Peronism. It would help to get a full perspective on it before delving into the book.

Timerman, whose career is referenced in Lawrence Thornton's IMAGINING ARGENTINA, lived the life -- and, under such a regime as that of the Argentine generals -- and suffered the punishment of an honest journalist.

Well written document about repression in Latin America during the 1970's, written from the reporter Jacobo Timerman's point of view. Sheds light on various themes, such as torture, anti-semetism, and the irrational detainment and destruction of people who were guilty of not having the same views as the ruling Junta government. Great text for modern Latin American history.

Opened my eyes to what can occur in any of these despotic nations, the USA as well, if we allow unlimited power with zero checks and balances to the top dicators.

It is a good general resource for people who know a little something about lacrosse and need some ideas on how to coach kids to play it.It might not be as useful in those parts of the country where lacrosse is growing and the coaches are not that experienced. For example, there aren't really good pictures/explanations of how to cradle, pass, shoot, etc.

Has a LOT of information in it, very thick book, but gives quite a few good tips and tricks as well as some interesting ideas of ways to coach the team and come up with plays.

If you never played before, and find yourself coaching, give a decent overview, pretty basic but enough to get you started.Has some basic outlines for practices and drills. But sections on dealing with parents not really what I was looking for.Had hoped for some more ideas for game strategies, not so much.Most useful for someone coaching younger ages, maybe up to 5th or 6th grade.

This book is good if you want to learn both boy's and girl's lacrosse. I already knew men's lacrosse so it was helpful to use it to compare to women's lacrosse. Good for a beginner or someone familiar with the sport

IF YOU WANT TO COACH GIRLS IN LACROSSE, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. This book claims to address both boys and girls lacrosse. However, it simply changed some pronouns, exchanged helmets for goggles, took away the pads, and put ponytails on a few images.Girls lacrosse is not played with the same rules as boys lacrosse. It is not played with the same equipment. Anyone who has had anything to do with either side of this sport knows this. This book literally teaches illegal and even dangerous play for women's lacrosse. Girls do not play with helmets or pads, so executing a poke check in a girls game would be extremely dangerous, yet this book has a diagram of just such a play! If someone picked up this book and taught girls to play lacrosse from it, their team would not even know how to play in a girls game.This means that the authors did not consult a single person who has played lacrosse or even watched a women's game. The cover of their book has girls wearing proper equipment: apparently the authors did not even look at the cover image of their own book. When I bought this book I did not realize that the "dummies" referred to in the title were actually the authors.

This is an excellent resource for coaches old and new. I read it at the beginning of each season as a refresher, It is well written with lots of good info. I especially like the focus on good sportsmanship! Truly well done!

Lots of good & common sense tips, but some were obvious and didn't need elaborate explanation. Was hoping for more ideas for drills than philosophy of coaching (that the sport should be fun, with which I agree anyway). Great service.

Lawrence Feingold converted to Catholicism in 1989 together with his wife, while engaged in realist marble sculpture in Pietrasanta, Italy. He studied Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome from 1990 to 1999, earning a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Theology in the Institute for Pastoral Theology of Ave Maria University.

In a singly superbly written, researched and organized work, Lawrence Feingold has demonstrated both precisely how St. Thomas Aquinas understood the concept of the natural human desire for God to be and also, and perhaps more importantly, how St. Thomas did not understand it to be. Many of his conclusions, stated early and frequently throughout his book, boldly fly in the face of current trends in the debate concerning the relationship between nature and grace especially with regard to the DeLubacian notions of the natural human desire for supernatural ends. In The Natural Desire to see God According to St. Thomas Aquinas and His Interpreters, Feingold traces the trajectory of Thomistic notions of innate natural desire vs. elicited natural desire beginning with a thorough exposition of the Angelic Doctor's own texts and extending through subsequent interpretations/clarification of St Thomas by interpreters such as Cajetan, Sylvester of Ferrara, Duns Scotus, Suarez and others before ending up finally with Henri DeLubac in the 20th century. He spends the last few chapters of his book specifically addressing the claims of DeLubac and how an innate desire for God is incompatible with the teachings of St. Thomas, who held that the desire for God is an elicited desire, beginning first with a general desire for knowledge of causes in general, but which needs intellectual specification for desiring the one, Triune God and ultimately, for the beatitude promised to man through sheer Divine gratuitousness.

A phenomenal book. It is clear, precise, and very well-documented. Feingold seeks to show the meaning of the natural desire to see God in St. Thomas, i.e. the question is what does this "natural desire" mean or what kind of natural desire is it. He does this first by going through the principle texts of Thomas on this subject and clearly laying out his doctrine and the questions that arise from it at first. He follows this with the debate up to the present time on this matter from Scotus, Denis the Carthusian, Cajetan (here he takes up the question of obediential potency as well), Francis Sylvester of Ferrara, Domingo de Sota, Francisco de Toledo, Medina, Banez, Suarez, and Jansenius. Finally he gives a systematic account of de Lubac's position and compares it point by point with St. Thomas. He concludes by saying that understanding the natural desire according to St. Thomas as innate is foreign to the texts of St. Thomas. There are many fundamental principles which de Lubac either denies or misunderstands from St. Thomas. Rather de Lubac falls in line with the Scotus tradition and tries to read St. Thomas as saying the same thing as Scotus (at least inasmuch as he says the natural desire to see God is innate). He concludes the book with summary of arguments on why an innate appetite for the vision of God is impossible. No matter where you may fall on the debate this book is well worth reading due to the detailed research on the understanding of this point from Scotus through de Lubac (not to mention his meticulous reading of St. Thomas!).

For those of us who grew up theologically in the 1960's with the works of de Lubac, Lonergan, Rahner, et al., de Lubac's interpretation of the natural desire to see God became mandatory, and the old-style Thomists who criticized de Lubac were seen as the epitome of wrongheadedness, narrowmindedness, stupidity, .... you name it. Still, I always had the suspicion that there were conceptual confusions that needed to be straightened out before de Lubac could claim victory on this score. I hoped, without any realistic expectation of its ever happening, that someone would in my lifetime clear up both the conceptual confusions and the historical questions regarding St. Thomas's account of the natural desire to see God.Well, let's just say that in this magisterial book Feingold has shown beyond the shadow of a doubt that de Lubac was just dead wrong both in his criticisms of the Thomists and in his interpretation of St. Thomas. The book is a model of conceptually precise and philosophically informed Catholic systematic theology carried out in conversation with the whole of the tradition on this particular question.In addition, there is a delicious irony here, viz., that the book should have been written by a Jewish convert to Catholicism, especially considering that another terrific recent Thomistic book, Fr. Thomas Joseph White's Wisdom in the Face of Modernity, is also written by a convert with Jewish roots. God has a sense of humor.
